Stop, and tell the school. A Year 3 result changes nothing about your child's schooling, and an anxious child tests below what they know. The cost of pushing is real and the benefit is small.

Year 3 NAPLAN practice tests

For most children this is the first formal test they have ever sat, and that — not the arithmetic — is what makes it hard. An eight-year-old who can count confidently at the kitchen table may still stall when the same idea arrives as a row of pictures on a screen with a clock running. Practice at this level is mostly about removing surprises: what the questions look like, how to move on from one you cannot do, and that nobody is expected to finish every part with time to spare.

Worth knowing at this level

Keep sessions short. Twenty minutes of real questions is worth more at this age than an hour that ends in tears, and a child who associates practice with pressure will do worse on the day, not better.
