Year 7 NAPLAN numeracy practice

Year 7 is where arithmetic turns into algebra and the questions stop telling you which operation to use. Percentages, ratios and negative numbers appear in the same paper, often dressed up as a situation rather than a sum.

What the section covers

Number
Integers, fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio and rate, index notation.
Algebra
Substituting into formulas, solving linear equations, reading and writing expressions.
Measurement
Perimeter, area and volume, units and conversions, time and rates, Pythagoras from Year 9.
Space and geometry
Angles and parallel lines, transformations, coordinates, properties of triangles and quadrilaterals.
Statistics and probability
Mean, median and range, interpreting graphs that mislead, probability of simple and combined events.
