NAPLAN 2025 TESTING SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
31 March 2025
NAPLAN 2025 testing is now complete for schools across Australia, including those in Queensland and northern NSW impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, as confirmed by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
This year’s testing involved more than 4.5 million online tests, completed by over 1.3 million students in more than 9,400 schools and campuses nationwide.
NAPLAN is Australia’s only national assessment that tracks student progress in literacy and numeracy across Years 3, 5, 7, and 9.
It provides valuable data on student learning outcomes and helps inform decisions at the classroom, school, and system level.
The 2025 testing cycle is the second year to operate under the new schedule, with the test period moved from May to March and the introduction of new proficiency levels.
This allows for better year-on-year tracking of student progress, with 2025 results providing insights on how cohorts have developed since 2023.
Preliminary school and student results (excluding writing) will be available to schools in early Term 2, approximately four weeks after testing ended on 24 March 2025.
Writing results will follow later, with full reporting to schools by June 2025. Parents and carers will receive their child’s Individual Student Report in early Term 3.
National results will be published in late July or early August 2025.
NAPLAN results support teachers in identifying areas for targeted learning support and help education authorities evaluate the impact of teaching approaches and guide policy decisions.
The assessments complement ongoing classroom evaluations and provide an additional source of information on student progress.
Alongside the online tests, thousands of Year 3 writing tests were completed on paper and are currently being marked.
